Mick Stanic - Founder of Honeysuckle Creek

Mick has been involved in the digital media, digital marketing and technology industry since the early 1990’s.

Since 1990 he has founded a number of innovative businesses, including; “SplaTT Technologies” (involved in developing and providing; virtual reality, simulation/training, command and control systems, multimedia and internet consulting, design and production between 1990 and 1996), “Principius” (provided emerging technology evangelism to the marketing and communications industries between 2004 and 2008) and “The Podcast Network” (he was the co-founder of the world’s first commercial podcasting network in early 2005 which he left in mid 2006).

In late 2006 he founded Honeysuckle Creek Pty Ltd which is the parent company of Upper Yarra Digital Media and who also operate Upper Yarra Web Hosting and DSS46 Digital.

In between running his own businesses, he has spent time as a designer, programmer, producer, Executive Producer, Head of Digital and General Manager for a number of leading Australian digital media and marketing organisations such as; Virtual Realm Xchange, Australian Business Theatre, CapitalPR, HotHouse, Next Online, Singleton OgilvyInteractive and Dreampool Digital.

Over the years, Mick has provided a wide range of both digital/interactive and marketing/communications related services to large organisations such as; Microsoft, IBM, Nokia, Motorola, Telstra, Unilever, Nestle, AMEX, QANTAS, Vodafone, BP, Myer, Kimberly Clark, ING, the Sydney Olympic Committee (SOCOG), Sydney University, Rollingstone Magazine, the Australian Army, LG Electronics, Dexion, Pharmacia & Upjohn, the Government of NSW and many others.

Having been involved in the Australian multimedia, interactive and digital industry from its earliest days, Mick has had the opportunity to have spoken and presented keynotes at numerous business and government conferences and events both in Australia and overseas. He has also been interviewed by a number of Australian and international magazines, newspapers and websites as well as appearing on national television in Australia.

In 1994 he sat on the committee of the Virtual Reality Association and since 2006 he has sat as a Director on the National Board of AIMIA (the Australian Interactive Media Industry Association).

Since 2003 he has also written a blog at www.splatt.com.au/blog which has often covered information on digital media and a variety of technologies.
